Each Character had a reason to be angry with Saul.
Kay Nein owns Ears to You, a store that caters to anyone with a pet. Given
the harsh winters, she can provide all kinds of head gear to keep your pet’s
ears warm. Saul put her out of business more than once. Her breeding
business could have given her international acclaim. Plus, he gave her a
hard time here. Her dog customers were usually well behaved.
Grapes of Wrath – Practical Jokes to really make a point is owned by Zaney
Kidder. But what deep secrets lurk behind his broad smile? Former business
partner Zaney knows that Saul hid money somewhere. He was determined to
ferret it out in his own way.
Tie one on – Shoelaces for every occasion: L.C. Cobbler. No one seems to
know L. C.’s history. What brought him to Ball’s Mall? Saul called
LC “Coach” from his old High School days. Coach kept records on everything.
In fact, any trouble Saul caused in high school is noted in those large file
drawers. He was waiting for the proper moment to launch his blackmail scheme.
Under the influence : Learn Hypnotism the easy way: Sven Galli. Sven is
known for being sharp – mentally, with his tongue, especially with Saul. As
a hypnotherapist, you know all kinds of secrets. For example, you know that
Dee Achell was born April Ball. You helped hypnotize her past out of her
mind and hooked her in with a discrete plastic surgeon. Her memories were
returning and so she came back here. You also know the true story of how
Saul had Jay Taggert murdered and lots of other things.
Three Sheets to the wind: Eco friendly clothes dryers May Taggert Why would
someone as ecologically minded as May have a store in Saul’s Mall? Little
sister May couldn’t believe Saul would ever do anything bad or mean. She
loved Violet and was sad when they divorced.
Under the table: Children’s play huts – turn any table into a fort.
Lillian Young Former teacher/mentor, Lillian Young regrets teaching Saul in
his younger days. Saul was a handful in school His infractions were
legendary. In fact, it was his misbehavior that led to her early retirement.
Cut the cheese: Gourmet cheese and crackers. Chef Etienne Fromage had a
thriving restaurant until Saul raised the rent and took the profits. So why
is he back in Saul’s clutches? CLOSED BY ORDER OF THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Raising Cane: Bamboo furniture Raisa Kane has a wonderful design business.
She’s decorated houses for the hoi polloi all over town. Why would she need
or want a store? It was another way to get the word out and Raisa had no
problem taking advantage of Saul’s adoration. Jay Taggert was one of her
delivery men until his untimely demise. Giving her a large store and lower
rent was Saul’s way of making amends for almost ruining her before.
Paint the town Read: Bookstore Violet Bluestein, Saul’s ex-wife always
loved to read. In fact it was her propensity for reading and collecting
books that lead to their final breakup. Is this store part of the
settlement? Violet was upset about never having Saul’s attention when they
were married, or his money afterward. Her new husband has helped with some
of that.
On a Tare: Shipping any package any place, any time Dee Achell What
would be so important that Dee thinks discretion is the most important part
of a shipping business? Dee is thrilled to be watching what goes on at the
mall. After all, her birth name is April Ball. She’s so proud of her
daughter, not that she’s pushed for a reunion. She wants Denise to have a
better life than she ever did and thought Saul could do that.
Mall Manager; Denise Gambol: Business woman Denise walks a fine line between
keeping the store operators happy and keeping Saul happy. She needs them to
keep the mall open, but how long can she stay on the tightrope. Denise was
itching to get ahead. She’d figured out a few ways to get around her uncle.
Her plan was to take over the mall – buy it out from under him and put him
on the street like he’d done to so many others.
Maintenance Person Jan Ittor graduated Magna Cum Laud from Wattsamawid U.
So, why does he spend his days changing light bulbs and plunging toilets?
Jan makes big bucks for being Saul’s lackey. His goal is to retire early, so
why not take advantage of Saul. You were able to steer Saul to the ways to
make more money and always made sure you got your cut. If Saul balked, you’d
just remind him about your fraternity hijinks.
Office Assistant: Ally Wright. Sweet, innocent Ally sees the world as one
happy place. What is she doing mixed in Saul? Your typical gold digger, Ally
had stars in her eyes for money. It was always frustrating that Saul would
give her the time of day – or a look.
But who’s anger spilled over into murder?
Let’s look at opportunity. Saul was strangled. May had lots of clothesline,
many different colors. But then again, LC kept handing out shoelaces. Saul
was found in the dumpster. To get What would happen if they were braided
together?
Shoelaces had been found all over the mall. Many of the shop owners found
uses for theirs or the ones they found.
Someone collected shoelaces and made them into a rope. But who?
Getting Saul into the dumpster is another challenge. It would take a very
strong person or a person with help.
Everyone seemed to have left the mall at the proper time, leaving only Jan
behind. But someone else snuck back, someone who knew how to track Saul.
Someone who knew how to get to Saul- how to make more money. How to be the
kingpin. Who wouldn’t be suspicious out at night? Someone walking a dog.
Someone who had worked with animals for a long time and knew exactly how to
train them.
You did it, Kay Nein and are under arrest.
